Apparently, this beautiful black fabric
plus this adorable dress pattern
equals the most dowdy thing I’ve ever made!
Granted, the pairing of fabric and pattern was a huge misstep for me. But, really the overall shape of it is nothing short of tragic. Even my Hunny – who tells me I look beautiful in everything – made a terrible face when I tried it on. Apparently, he loves me enough not to let me go out in this.
Well, I retraced Neue Mode 23258 in a 34 but decided to keep the upper front at a 36 because I felt that I needed the extra half inch of bust room. It worked out perfectly! I used this beautiful “Monet” knit that I bought from Ann at Gorgeous Things
This was a perfect print for the style because the seaming and details don’t get lost in it. Now that I have the fit just the way I like it I will make one more in a solid – probably with short sleeves – and then move on to The Next Big Thing.
Another project nearly completed – I just have to sew the hems! Yes, I am hooked on twist tops! This is Neue Mode 23258 made up in a rayon/lycra print from Lucy’s Fabrics.
I made this in a size 36 and it fits pretty well but I think I’ll go down to a 34 for my next one. My bra shows through the opening underneath the twist so I am either going to sew it closed or back it with a piece of nude fabric.
